Sony has officially launched the FX6 full-frame cinema camera in Nepal. The FX6 can record in DCI 4K at 60fps, UHD 4K at 120fps, and Full HD 1080p at up to 240fps. It delivers 15+ stops of dynamic range with S-Log3 EI and supports 4:2:2 10-bit internal recording.

Design and Handling

Weighing under 2 lbs, the camera is highly portable and designed for single-operator use. It features a 3.5” touchscreen LCD, built-in auto/manual ND filters, and face/eye detection autofocus.

With 627-point phase detection and fast hybrid AF, the FX6 ensures sharp focus even during complex shots. Autofocus is now also available in S&Q mode (≥7fps) through firmware v4.0. It supports 4K slow motion up to 120fps and HD up to 240fps. Codec options include XAVC-I, XAVC Intra, and XAVC Long, with bitrates ranging from 35 to 600 Mb/s.

Firmware v4.0 Additions

Firmware v4.0 adds features like 1.3x and 2.0x anamorphic de-squeeze, Cine EI Quick, clip naming styles from CineAlta, and improved autofocus in S&Q modes. The FX6 offers dual card slots compatible with CFexpress Type A and SDXC (UHS-II). It supports simultaneous and relay recording.

Audio Capabilities
