OnePlus 12R Overview
We are all aware that the OnePlus series of phones are the company's flagship offerings. Similarly, the “R” variant is a water-down version of the phone. As such, the OnePlus 12R is a semi-flagship offering from the company for the year 2024!
Design and Display
As mentioned earlier, the OnePlus 12R is a water-down version of the OnePlus 12, and it is visible in the design of the phone as well. The OnePlus 12R has a single-tone curved finish and features a glass back. It comes with a large circular camera island housing three cameras on the back. It boasts an IP64 rating and comes in two colourways i.e. Cool Blue, and Iron Grey. We have a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display on the front with minimal bezels and a hole-punch camera cutout. This panel has a 2K resolution spanning 1264 x 2780 pixels and boasts a 450 PPI pixel density. Additionally, it offers a dynamic refresh rate of up to 120Hz, high-frequency PWM dimming of 2160Hz, peak brightness of 4500 nits, and a 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut. Lastly, a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 offers additional protection to the display.
Performance
Under the hood, the OnePlus 12R packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. It is an octa-core silicone built on a 4nm process that can achieve a peak clock speed of 3200 MHz. In terms of GPU, we are getting the Adreno 740. Furthermore, it comes in two configurations 8GB + 128GB, and 16GB + 256GB. It also comes with a 9,140 mm2 vapour chamber to keep the phone cool and smooth. Meanwhile, on the software end, it ships with OxygenOS 14 based on Android 14.
Camera and the rest
The OnePlus 12R boasts a triple camera setup on the back, led by a 50MP Sony IMX890 primary sensor. It is coupled with an 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP Macro lens. Meanwhile, up on the front, we are getting a 16MP shooter for the selfies. A 5,500 mAh battery powers the phone and accepts 100W of wired charging. Meanwhile, it supports dual-SIM, 5G, WiFi 7, Bluetooth v5.3, and NFC for wireless connectivity. On the other hand, you only get a sole USB 2.0 Type-C port for wired connections.
