Design and Build 

ThinkPad Z16 has the build of a premium device. It has an all-body aluminum chassis and a 16" WUXGA display with 100% sRGB coverage.  Alongside that, it also features an LED backlit keyboard, Windows Precision glass touchPad (with haptic feedback), and a familiar Trackpoint. The machine is portable at 1.81 kg or about 4 pounds. ThinkPad Z16 is 354 mm in width, 237mm deep, and has a height of 15.8mm.

Performance and Memory

Under the hood, Lenovo ThinkPad Z16 Gen 1 (2022) has an AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 6850H CPU. It has 8 Cores and 16 Threads. The chip has a base frequency of 3.2 GHz and a max frequency of 4.7 GHz. On the GPU front, ThinkPad Z16 Gen 1 offers Radeon RX 6500M with 4 GB of GDDR6 RAM alongside Integrated AMD Radeon 680 GPU. Lenovo ThinkPad Z16 comes with 16GB of soldered LPDDR5X RAM, so unfortunately, it cannot be upgraded any further. With that, you also get 512GB SSD for storage.

Battery and Connectivity

What powers the  Lenovo ThinkPad Z16 Gen 1 is a 72 Wh Li-Po battery. It can play local 1080p video for up to 28 hours at 250nits of brightness. It performed well on the MobileMark 2018 benchmark as well lasting 20.5 hours at 200 nits. As for connectivity, you get a single USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port, and 2 USB 4 ports that support data transfer, Power Delivery 3.0, and DisplayPort 1.4a. You get a 3.5mm headphone/microphone jack and an SD card reader. On the wireless side of things, you get WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.1.
