The AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) USB-C is the Type-C version of the AirPods Pro 2 released in 2022. It is all about the improvement in Active Noise Cancellation from its predecessor. It gives around 2x the ANC and also provides a more effective Transparency mode using the H2 chip they have upgraded to. Moreover, the case now has a U1 chip, making it easier to find using the Precision finding.

      Why USB-C?

The USB-C version launched one year in 2023 after the original AirPods Pro 2 with a lightning port was released. This was due to the European Commission issuing binding rules that mandated a USB-C port for smartphones, tablets, and a range of other devices.

Is there anything new to the buds?

YES! In a sense, there are new sizes of ear tips available right out of the box for a better fit. There are some upgrades related to iOS 17, but these will be rolled to all the previous AirPods 2 too. However, NO! There are no physical changes made directly with the buds or the case. It is the same buds but with a charging case featuring a USB-C. The only thing other than the port upgraded here is the IP rating which has included protection against dust too. Basically, it gets an IP54 rating rather than IPX4 from the previous version.

AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) USB-C Overview:

Sure, here's a brief description of the AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) with USB-C:

      Design

AirPods Pro (2nd Generation with USB-C) is composed of in-ear fitted silicone tips. As I mentioned above, both the case and the buds are provided with a rating of IP54 splash protection. Talking about which, the case and the buds are both similar to their predecessor. The classical AirPods build has been carried down to the newer version.

      U1 for case | H2 for buds

Here, both the earpieces and the case have their separate chip, an upgrade from 1st generation. The U1 chip found in the case helps you to find the charging case even if it goes missing. The upgraded H2 chip in the 2nd Generation AirPods Pro is to make those processes easier and gain ANC and clearer call time.

      Sound & ANC

The audio is provided by the custom Apple driver with "high-excursion" and a custom high dynamic range amplifier. Also, the personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking adds up to 3D feel to the music. Moreover, the adaptive EQ customizes sound to your preference. The second generation of AirPods Pro is mostly about the improvements in the first generation's ANC. First off, the U2 chip aforementioned improves the noise-cancellation by 2 times the previous iteration. Additionally, Adaptive transparency adjusts the intensity of loud noises 48,000 times per second.

      Battery

The charge lasts up to 6 hours of playback without anything enabled. Nevertheless, it decreases to 5.5 hours of music with Personalized Spatial Audio and Head Tracking enabled and the continuous call further lowers it to 4.5 hours. To top it all off, The MagSafe Charging Case can fuel the buds for up to 30 hours of listening time or 24 hours of talk time. The charging process is also pretty quick, providing the AirPods Pro 2 an hour of playtime just in 5 minutes.

      Rest of the specs

The 2nd Gen AirPods Pro ships with a lot of sensors. Just for starters, the skin-detect sensor will make sure the earpieces are in your ears. There are other sensors such as motion-detecting & speech-detecting accelerometers, sensors for touch control, and even dual microphones (one of which is inward-facing). For connections, the latest version of Bluetooth is what it uses for connection.
