Performance and Cooling

Now, let’s talk about performance which is arguably the most important aspect of a gaming laptop. Lenovo has decided to ship this model with a 12th-generation Intel Core i5-12450H CPU. Although that might look bad on paper, the 12450H is an 8 Core CPU (4P + 4E) that is pretty much identical to the i5-13420H we’ve been seeing on other budget gaming laptops. The newer 13420H has higher base and boost clock speeds but it’s not anything major. So, in theory, you aren’t losing much when it comes to raw CPU performance relative to other competitors in the price range.  On the GPU front, you get entry-level RTX 2050 graphics. It isn’t cutting-edge but for the price, it’s a better choice than the GTX 1660 card. For not a whole not more, you can get your hands on an RTX 3050 laptop which brings higher VRAM and more raw power but if all you are looking for is casual gaming, the LOQ 15 will handle it just fine. The 2050 here has 4GB of GDDR6 VRAM, clocks at 1575MHz, and operates at up to 70W.  To cool this CPU+ GPU combo, the LOQ features two 85mm high-speed fans alongside large intake and outlet vents. Moreover, Lenovo AI Engine paired with their LA1 AI chip boosts fps in games and further optimizes the performance.
