Samsung just dropped the Galaxy M17 5G in Nepal, and it brings only some updates over its predecessor. While having little to no differences with its other counterparts, like Galaxy A17 5G or F17 5G. Now, this article will discuss everything about the latest Galaxy M17 5G, including its price in Nepal, specifications, and availability.
Samsung Galaxy M17 5G Overview
Display and Design
The Galaxy M17 5G has a 6.7-inch Infinity-U Super AMOLED screen with 1080 x 2340 resolution and once again refuses to break with a 90 Hz refresh rate panel. The display is still decent for everyday usage, but a tear-drop notch for a phone sub 30k in the big year of 2025 is surely disappointing.

On the design front, Samsung slimmed things down a bit. The phone has a plastic back and measures 7.5 mm thick and weighs 192 g. It comes in Sapphire Black and Moonlight Silver. One thing that's changed is the camera module, which is more streamlined than the one on the M16. Similarly, protecting the display is the Gorilla Glass Victus, and the phone has an IP54 rating.
Performance and Software
Inside, the phone moves from the Dimensity 6300 to the Exynos 1330. This isn’t a major jump, but the new SoC features 5G connectivity. But the Exynos 1330 isn’t brand new either, as it was launched back in 2023 and powers both the Galaxy A17 and M17 5G. Its definitely not a gaming-centric chipset, if that's what you're expecting, but its performance is decent enough for games like PUBG if played in low settings.
The phone runs Android and will get six generations of OS upgrades plus six years of security updates. That means you’re covered for software improvements and patches for quite a while, but considering the chipset and how quickly battery erodes over time, six years of software becomes pretty much meaningless.

Camera and Battery
The rear camera setup retains the 50MP main sensor, a 5MP secondary, and a 2MP depth sensor from its predecessor. Whereas Samsung highlights its optical image stabilization, which reduces blur from "shaky hands", and the camera supports digital zoom up to 10x. Similarly, you also get a 13MP selfie camera on the front and video recording on this guy goes up to only FHD 1080p at 30fps, and slow motion captures at 120fps in HD.
Battery life, like most Samsung phones, isn't remarkable here either. When most Chinese smartphones now feature over 7000-8000 mAh batteries, the Galaxy M17 5G still sits at 5000 mAh with 25W fast charging. But according to Samsung, the Video playback can apparently run up to 18 hours.
Connectivity and Features
The Galaxy M17 5G has dual SIM support, full 5G coverage, NFC, Bluetooth 5.3, and the usual GPS with multiple global systems. Sensors include an accelerometer, a fingerprint sensor, a gyro, a geomagnetic sensor, a light sensor, and virtual proximity sensing.
